Ek Villain Returns Review:
Aarvi, a new singer on the block, has an unusual kind of relationship with the rich and spoiled heir of a business empire, Gautam Mehra. Aarvi goes missing after a strange experience under mysterious circumstances at her resistance. The blame for her missing is pinned on her ex-Kabhi-current boyfriend Gautam.

Gautam manages to save the life of his ladylove from the crux of the narrative.

Director Mohit Suri’s film offers a very simple story with several twists throughout the movie runtime, right till the last frame rolls in.
Some people ask for more attention in order to create a better balance between the first and second halves of the film, to make it more thrilling and tauter. The writers added pace and spice to the screenplay and dialogues they missed adding more heft to all the central characters.

The characters are human and flawed, but sadly that doesn’t make them relatable to earn them much empathy.

In this movie one could have done away with the toxicity directed toward women in the film, this will take away from the point the story is trying to make about the loss, love, rejection, and heartbreak.
Roles written for Shaad Randhawa and Jd Chakravarty needed some thinking, which was done with the police procedures depicted in the film, and they could have provided much-needed support to the narrative.

Reprised version of Galliyan, which often plays out throughout the narrative, has a soothing effect on the proceedings, which are otherwise fairly intense throughout the movie.

The other tracks in the album were as hummable and memorable too, which gives an important aspect of a romantic thriller’s narrative. The songs in the album are decent but they didn’t create the magic of Ek Villian’s album, which was a few years old now.

Performers in the film don’t really stand out, and most of the actors in their parts feel limited. If the characters had been fleshed out in a better way it could have probably given them more scope to rise in their individual performances.
I mean, who would have imagined that a script like this in today’s time would make its predecessor look like a much better film? Ek Villain Returns is now showing at theatres. Watch it only and only if you can withstand the so-called massy cinema that expects you to keep your brain back at home.
Not to forget, the soulful track Teri Galliyan has been reprised as Galliyan Returns and plays in the background throughout the film. Rest of the album is just forgettable and doesn’t live up to the expectations at all.
Cutting short a long story, by the end of it all, you only wish it would have been better if this villain didn’t return at all.
